Current Yeonpyeong island residents three months of shelling South Korea

北朝鮮による韓国・延坪島砲撃事件から３か月がたった。島に唯一ある学校で卒業式が行われるなど、日常の生活を取り戻しつつある住民の現状を取材した。 

　島の中心にある延坪小学校で２１日、幼稚園から高校までの合同卒業式が行われ、４１人の生徒らが学校などを巣立った。 

　小学校の教室の黒板には、砲撃を受けた日付がそのまま残されている。一時は全ての子供が島を離れたが、慣れ親しんだ学校で卒業式を迎えたいと、４１人全員が島に戻ってきた。この日、小学校を卒業した朴昭元さん（１２）は、避難先では新しい友達ができず、自分の学校で卒業できるのがうれしいと話す。 

　昭元さんの自宅は、砲弾の直撃を受けた。現場を案内してくれた昭元さんだが、自分の部屋に目を向けることはなかった。 

　小学校の敷地に建てられた仮設住宅で、昭元さん一家の新たな生活が始まっている。しかし、母親・趙順愛さん（４７）は「何にも興味が持てません。意欲も希望もありません。夫の職場がここにあるし、他に行くところもないんです」と話し、現実を受け入れるには時間がかかるとしている。 

　事件から３か月がたち、南北の最前線に位置する島には、住民の約６割が戻った。しかし、砲撃は今なお、住民の生活に暗い影を落としている。
