「コンペット CS-10A」は世界初のオールトランジスタ・ダイオードによる電子式卓上計算機（電卓）。1964年に発売され、事務や経理部門における業務の大幅な効 率化を実現した製品だ。また、その後に訪れる電卓の小型化や低消費電力化の過程で開発された半導体技術や液晶技術は、同社の事業拡大の礎となった。

発 売時の価格は53万5,000円。これは当時の1,300ccクラスの一般乗用車とほぼ同じという、かなりの高額商品だったが、電子計算機としての画期的 な計算スピードと静音性で、国内外でヒット商品となった。ちなみにその歴史的な偉業が認められ、英国の大英科学博物館にも永久保存されている。

情 報処理技術遺産は研究・教育材料としての活用、遺産保存の推進を目的に、日本の情報処理技術の基盤を形成した貴重な技術史的成果や製品、生活・文化・経 済・社会に著しく貢献した情報処理技術やシステムを認定するもの。一般社団法人情報処理学会により、2008年度に制定された。
