The return flight of Discovery last year retired after 27 missions

ディスカバリーは１９８４年から３９回にわたって飛行し、軌道飛行が通算３６５日、飛行距離は２億３８００万キロに上った。管制塔から ディスカバリーと交信したチャーリー・ホーバー飛行士は、「素晴らしい仕事だった」とスティーブン・リンゼイ船長と乗組員らをねぎらった。

ディスカバリーは現役３機のうち最初に退役し、今後はワシントンにある国立航空宇宙博物館で展示される予定。残りの２機については「エン デバー」が４月、「アトランティス」は６月に最終飛行を行うことになっている。
